Baton Rouge, La. – The Louisiana Association of Health Plans (LAHP) announced Wednesday that Humana regional executive Matt Berger has joined the organization’s board of directors.

“I’m excited to have Matt join the board as we focus on leading Louisiana’s health benefits industry during such an interesting time in healthcare,” said LAHP CEO Jeff Drozda. “His insight will be beneficial to our organization’s continued success.”

Humana appointed Berger as Regional President for its Louisiana and Mississippi Medicare markets earlier this year after he spent four years as the company’s Medicare Central Division chief financial officer.

“As one of Louisiana’s largest health benefits companies, Humana is pleased to continue our support of and participation in LAHP,” said Berger. “Humana is already partnering with employers, providers and community organizations across Louisiana on our Bold Goal to improve the health of New Orleans and Baton Rouge 20 percent by 2020, and we look forward to working with LAHP and its members on population health and other industry issues.”

Berger is a native of New Orleans. He earned his law degree from Loyola Law School, his MBA from Tulane University School of Business and his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from LSU.

About the Louisiana Association of Health Plans

Since 1991, LAHP has facilitated communications among its members, our government and the industry regarding health care issues of common concern. LAHP provides its members the means to address legislative and regulatory issues in an organized and effective way. It also allows the industry to be represented in other arenas so that health benefits principles can always be considered when public policy decisions are made and so that the health benefits industry can speak with one voice.
