District 25 State Senator Dan W. “Blade” Morrish  is serving his first term in the State Senate.  The Lake Charles Republican was elected to the House of Representative in 1996 and re-elected without opposition in 2000 and 2004. 

Senator Morrish is a graduate of Jennings High School and McNeese State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Agriculture.  His work experience has included marine underwriting with The Insurance Company of North America, sales and operations management with Browning-Ferris Industries, sales manager for 3 Star Sand, Blast & Paint, and owner-operator of Capitol City Hardware & Implement Company of Jennings for 25 years.  He is currently employed by the Lake Charles Pilots as Business Manager. 

Morrish is married to the former Kathy Vidrine of Lake Charles.  The Morrish’s are the parents of two children, Erin Morrish Boudreaux and Chris Morrish, and three beautiful grandchildren.  They are members of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, where he served three terms on the parish council and is actively involved with Our Lady of the Oaks Retreat House having served on the lay advisory board and as a retreat captain.  He is a member of the Jennings Rotary Club, a member, past board member and past president of the Greater Jennings Chamber of Commerce, a past board member and past president of the Jennings Merchants Credit Bureau and holds membership in various trade organizations. 

As a state legislator, Senator Morrish sits on the Environmental Quality Committee, Natural Resources Committee, and  Chairman of the Insurance Committee.  He currently serves as Chairman of the House & Senate Task Force on the Working Uninsured and as Board of Directors of Louisiana Citizens Property and Casualty Corporation.  He is a member of the Coastal Restoration Flood Control Committee, the Governor's Advisory Commission on Coastal Protection, Restoration and Conservation, the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, the Select Committee on Hurricane Recovery, the Legislative Rural Caucus, and the Acadiana Delegation.

District 25 includes all of Jefferson Davis and Cameron Parishes, parts of Acadia Parish and the Southeast part of Calcasieu Parish.
